Creature on battery

Battery power, an on/off switch, tidier wiring, and a new question about sound.

Creature now runs on battery. There is an on/off switch, and I have cleaned up some of the wiring. It feels a little less tethered to the workbench.

The current Creature build on a blue mat: a breadboard of sensors and wiring, a small speaker, and a battery connected at the lower left.

I can disable the sound now. Sometimes I need to; it can be distracting. But silencing it sways the natural data the Creature receives. I will need a better way to manage that tension.

Maybe the times I choose to silence it are useful feedback in themselves. That choice is part of the environment it lives in, and part of the relationship between us.

The Creature's twelve-cell field: sound, motion, light, and weather anchors surround six reservoir cells, with paths leading to the speaker and LED.
A moment in the twelve-cell field and reservoir. Interesting relationships are being built.
